Abstract:

The status of sea cucumbers in the wild is classified as rare, due to excessive fishing activities, such as in the waters of Karimunjawa National Park. Fisheries enhancement was carried out by transplanting 300 individual child-stage sea cucumbers (30-130 grams/individual) from Bai Bay, Bengkulu to Karimunjawa National Park. The study was conducted from November 2020 - March 2021. This paper presents information on transportation techniques, survival, conditions, and effectiveness of sea cucumber transplant sites. During the transportation of sea cucumbers, they are packed in plastic bags filled with seawater and pure oxygen with a ratio of 1: 2. The temperature of the seawater is maintained so that the sea cucumbers are not stressed (secrete stomach contents that cause death). Prior to packaging, sea cucumbers are left for 24 hours so as not to excrete dirt during transportation. Replacement of water media and addition of oxygen after the transportation period, so that sea cucumbers stay alive. The replacement of water and oxygen media was carried out after traveling for 13 hours from Bai Bay, Bengkulu to Lampung with a survival rate of 34% then from Lampung to Jepara it was a 19-hour journey with a survival of 99%, and a trip from Jepara to Karimunjawa National Park with a 100% survival rate due to the relatively close distance and without shocks. The low survival of sea cucumbers from Bay Bai, Bengkulu to Lampung is due to sea cucumber stress due to strong shocks during the trip. The results of the study concluded that the transportation of sea cucumbers requires the replacement of water, oxygen, and is safe from shocks. Sea cucumbers grow well at the transplant site supported by environmental conditions, the effectiveness of the transplant site is assessed from the growth rate of sea cucumbers and the individual weight gain of sea cucumbers.
